Derek Carter ‒ newly appointed non-executive director of Blackthorn Resources Limited

Sydney, Australia --- MININGREVIEW.COM --- 01 February 2012 - Blackthorn Resources Limited has announced that Derek Carter has agreed to join the board of the company as a non-executive director, effective from today.

Carter has over 40 years’ experience in exploration and mine geology, including 17 years in management of ASX-listed exploration companies. He held senior positions in the Shell group of companies and Burmine Limited before founding Minotaur Exploration in 1993.

He was managing director of Minotaur Exploration from its inception until 2010 when he became chairman of the company. He is also currently chairman of Petratherm Limited, and is a director of Mithril Resources Limited and Toro Energy Limited, all of which are listed on the ASX.

Carter was vice president and later president, of the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy, and was a director of the Australian Gold Council and Chairman of the Minerals Exploration Advisory Group, a body advising the Federal Minister on issues affecting exploration within Australia.

He is currently a member of the South Australian Resources Development Board, and the South Australian Minerals and Petroleum Experts Group. He is also a board member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
