New Lonmin chief financial officer Simon Scott

London, England --- MININGREVIEW.COM --- 07 July 2010 - Following the decision to base the role of the chief financial officer (CFO) in South Africa, Lonmin Plc has today appointed Simon Scott as an executive director with effect from 27 September 2010. He will assume the role of CFO from mid-November 2010.

Scott (52) is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants; holds B.Com and B. Acc degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand; and attended the Management Development Programme at the University of Cape Town.   After qualifying he moved into industry and has held financial management roles in South Africa with a number of local and global employers, including a total of nine years with Anglo Platinum.   
 
Scott is currently the group financial director of JSE-listed Aveng Limited, a construction and engineering company with significant involvement in the mining sector.   He has dual British and South African nationality and lives in Johannesburg.
