ASX-listed Vector Resources has made a number of key executive appointments following its acquisition of a 70% interest in the Maniema gold project.

The gold and iron ore exploration company has appointed Simon Youds, “a highly experienced mining executive”, as CEO. Vector Resources has also appointed Peter Stockman as senior consulting geologist and Jason Brewer as a director of the company.

The Vector Resources board believes that these appointments, which are effective immediately, will help it to immediately start the exploration and operational activities associated with the recently acquired Maniema gold project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Commenting on the appointments, Vector Resources chairman, Gary Castledine, said: “Youds and Stockman, as consultants to the company, oversaw the technical due diligence associated with the acquisition of the Maniema gold project. The work they have done to date, in country and with key staff and advisors, will ensure they are well equipped to rapidly advance technical and operational planning associated with the project.”

“Brewer played a key role in assisting Vector Resources with completing the acquisition, negotiating with our new joint venture partners and establishing our presence and activities in the DRC, so his appointment to the board is welcomed.”

Youds is a qualified mining engineer and holds a MBA from Deakin University. He has over 20 years’ experience working in the global resources industry, primarily in Africa, South America, Papa New Guinea and Australia.

Stockman is a geologist with 30-years of mineral industry experience gained in exploration, resource development and operational roles. He has worked throughout Africa, Australia, China, South East Asia, South America and Papa New Guinea.

Finally, Brewer has over 18 years of international experience in the natural resources sector and investment banking.
