The 2018 Joburg Indaba returns on the 3rd & 4th October to the Inanda Club in Johannesburg.

The  Joburg Indaba has developed a remarkable reputation as a highly regarded and influential industry platform where industry leaders engage in robust conversations that are open, honest, bold, fresh and to the point.

Since its inception, the Joburg Indaba has succeeded in interrogating a wide range of critical issues affecting all stakeholders and thus enjoys overwhelming support from mining and resource companies, investors, labour, government and the media.

With its hard hitting and newsworthy content distilled from the stimulating, incisive and sometimes controversial discussions, the Joburg Indaba has regularly made headlines in all the main media as an event with a difference.

The Joburg Indaba is also a fitting occasion to celebrate the SA Mining Hall of Fame which recognises and celebrates key role players who have made significant contributions to South Africa’s mining industry. The current members are: Bobby Godsell, Patrice Motsepe, Sipho Nkosi, Gwede Mantashe, May Hermanus, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngucka, Brian Gilbertson, Mark Bristow, Barry Davison, Ian Cockerill, Marius Kloppers and James Motlatsi. The third edition of the SA Mining Hall of Fame will be held on the eve of the 2018 Joburg Indaba at a Gala Dinner where new outstanding individuals will be honoured and inducted.

Seeking always to make a positive contribution to the industry, the Joburg Indaba launched a perception survey in recent years of the industry’s readiness to modernize. The definition of Modernisation has since been widely adopted and was heralded as: “A Modern Mining Industry will optimally extract and beneficiate the country’s natural resources, causing no harm to people or planet. It benefits both the local community as well as the national economy. It procures locally, is a preferred employer of well-skilled people and creates appropriate risk-adjusted returns for investors. Regulations, taxation and incentives are consistent, transparent and recognise mining as a long-term driver of economic growth.”

Working as we do in close consultation and partnership with leaders in the mining industry and investment community, the Joburg Indaba will continue to answer the call by industry – to deliver a conference with a difference.

As we continue to grow, 2018 will once again provide an unrivalled opportunity for attendees to network amongst a powerhouse of business, government, investors and labour leaders in an intimate atmosphere.

We look forward to seeing you later in the year and thank you, our supporters, for sharing this journey with us and enabling us to continue doing what we love – delivering a memorable and valuable event to the industry.

We look forward to seeing you in October 2018.
