Junior miners, explorers and investors with an eye to the future of the resources sector will descend on the historic mining town of Broken Hill this month for the annual Resources Investment Symposium.

Returning to the birthplace of Australia’s biggest miner for the fourth year running, the Resources Investment Symposium will run from May 25 to 28.

More than 15 ASX-listed resource companies will present their investment stories at the symposium, alongside renowned industry leaders and experts from Australia and across the world including Minister for Industry Ian MacFarlane, South Australian Deputy Chief Executive of Resources and Energy Paul Heithersay, former CEO of Geoscience Australia Neil Williams and Qantas chairman Leigh Clifford.

Kerry Stevenson, Managing Director of Symposium said the Resources Investment Symposium had established itself as one of the must-attend events on the conference calendar by attracting key industry though leaders and experts, mining executives and representatives from the financial and investment communities.

“Last year’s event exceeded the expectations of all that attended – including 350 delegates, 18 resource companies and 12 key note speakers,” Stevenson said.

“This year’s event promises to be bigger and better and will focus on the challenges that are facing not only the Australian resources industries, but Australia as a whole.”

Guests will hear from over 15 keynote speakers, covering a range of topics including:

Opportunity and challenge in Australia’s first mining state (Stephen Galilee, Chief Executive Officer, NSW Minerals Council)

  • Future of the global mining industry (Tim Goldsmith, Partner, Global Mining Leader – PwC)
  • Life changers with a chance of stock discussion (Locantro, Managing Director, Locantro Capital)
  • A short history of money (Trevor Sykes, Finance Journalist & Author, Australian Financial Review – Smart Investor)
  • The Liquidity Tap and the Year of the Horse (Hedley Widdup, Manager Lion Selection Group)
  • Driving Australia’s future economic growth (John Roskam, Executive Director, Institute of Public Affairs)

The Resources Investment Symposium continues to attract a growing group of brokers and advisors, private and institutional investors, senior decision makers and executives from mining companies, as well as representatives from mining service companies.

The Resources Investment Symposium will be held in Chloride Street, with all presentations taking place in the Civic Centre next door to the exhibitor marquee, and kicks off with the Great Australian Outback golf challenge – a unique golfing challenge open to all levels of golfing expertise.
