The search is on for the top 100 women in mining

Paying homage to women in mining is essential as the roles they play in the industry continues to grow and play a vital role in the success of the industry.

Non-profit organisation Women in Mining (UK), (WIM), is leading the way forward in ensuring this and will launch the third edition of its “Top 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” which aims to showcase the significant impact and contribution of women within the global mining industry and identify inspirational role models.

The 2018 edition is being co-sponsored by BMO Capital Markets and the results will be announced in November 2018.

The search is open to any woman working in the mining sector, including industries related to or supporting the industry. As ever, WIM is keen to see the full array of natural resource sector roles represented in the 2018 edition: from mine to office, from explorers to C-Suite, from finance to compliance and ESG to government/non-government agencies.

Nominations are open until midnight on 15 August 2018. This year’s most inspirational women will be selected by their global peers.

Candidates can be nominated by the companies they work for, their fellow colleagues or they can self-nominate.

The Nominations form – simple to complete – is available here: https://www.womeninmining.org.uk/wim-100-nominations/

MD Nichole McCulloch, says “Sharing the success stories of women in mining is critical to attracting and retaining female talent in our industry. It also allows us to address the common misconception that there is not a pipeline of talent coming through. Whilst more needs to be done, it is a pipeline that is growing and there are already a large number of inspirational women paving the way for the future of our industry.

“We feel this is a great way to celebrate their stories and successes. This search is open to women from every level of seniority and we encourage both companies within the mining sector as well as co-workers to nominate inspirational female colleagues.”

“BMO Capital Markets is pleased to sponsor WIM’s 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining 2018,” said Jeffrey Couch, Head of Investment and Corporate Banking, Europe, BMO Capital Markets.

“At BMO, we are passionate about gender diversity. It’s fantastic to be involved once again in a project that promotes and recognises successful women in the mining industry. We look forward to celebrating women in the sector who demonstrate the skills and attributes to inspire a new generation of professionals.”
