Job Description:
A leading international metals and minerals company is currently working on key projects in Southern Africa. The Project Engineer (Tailings) will provide direct output and support to Project Head Plant/Concentrator and will work with Project Technical Office to establish and assist in formulating the framework for all discipline specific designs and work related to the project.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the overall success of the Project with a specific focus across the Tailings stream and related functions
- Implementing the Tailings stream within scope, time and budget
- Providing direction and control to all relevant project members, as well as Contractors/EPC parties involved in the Tailings stream
- Working closely with EPC contractors to ensure timeous and efficient delivery
- Developing and optimising the Tailings scope of work
- Working closely with the EPC and ensuring optimisation of process design and selection of processing route
- Reviewing EPC designs to ensure design standards are applied
- Perform a key role in project planning and management including budgeting, and identification of resources needed by
- Provide guidance in the Tailings stream by anticipating current and future risks and mitigating these
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Tertiary qualification in Extractive Metallurgy , Process Engineering or Chemical Engineering from a recognised institution
- Post graduate qualification in Financial and/or Project Management is preferred
- Professional registration with recognized body/institution is an advantage
- At least 8 -10 years large project mining experience is required
- 4-8 years discipline specific experience with exposure to ideally both operational and technical environments
- Sound knowledge of extractive metallurgical processes and design principles
- Demonstrable experience in bringing large projects in on time and budget and within scope
- Greenfield project experience is an advantage
- Working knowledge of MHSA
- Working knowledge of relevant South African environmental regulations
