Our industry has been struggling long enough and we need a market turnaround – at least one that inspires confidence in the rest of Africa as South Africa remains in political turmoil which is positioning the local industry for ruin.
As I look back over the 2016 year, I have come to realise what an industry-changing year it has been and predictions that the past 12 months would be filled with great trial and tribulations were correct.
Perhaps it is time for South Africa to take a leaf out of Africa’s book – at least acknowledging the power of the mining industry and how critical it is to ensure legislation that encourages investment and industry growth.
