CA Mining Mining Review AfricaScope:

  • Preparation of Initial Project Cash Flow as per schedule agreed with client during negotiations

Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

  • To have full Commercial Responsibility from BID to Final Closure of the Project
  • Driving consistency of good valuation/commercial processes during pre-contract and monitoring the same post contract.
  • Provide advice for timely commercial information.
  • Ensuring that the financial aspects and impact of a contract are clear to all parties.
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations.
  • Resolving contractual and commercial problems
  • Discovering areas that are not in-keeping with regulation practices.
  • Supporting the operation team for disputes/claims.
  • Risk assessment.
  • Reviewing and developing operational process flows.
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations.
  • Overseeing financial KPIs.
  • Writing Proposals and SLA’s for implementations, specifications and support contracts.
  • Contract Management of ongoing Projects from signing to closure, including:
  • Preparation & Management of Contract Variations.
  • Payment Applications
  • Participation in Contract Claims & Dispute Settlement.
  • Managing tendering process and awarding contracts, coordinating with contractors for commercial negotiations, cost estimates including billing & claims etc
  • Involved in interpreting contractual obligations & rights and evaluation of technical/ financial problems for management reporting.
  • Reviewing bids for sub-contractors works/ Purchases received by the procurement as well as operations. With detailed attention to payment terms, default clause, termination clause, operation risk and commercial feasibility.
  • Enforcing General & Special conditions of contract in sub-contractors contract documents
  • Applying innovative control methods that consistently delivering bottom line savings.
  • Contract Administration (Main Contracts & Sub-Contracts)
  • Verifying Subcontractors Payments / Claims as per Contract.
  • Monitoring the PO and Payments of Services, out-sourcing & materials.
  • Ensure accurate and timely (weekly/monthly/quarterly) reporting of cost and forecasting cost with agreed schedule.
  • Cost Value Reports

Experience & Qualifications (Sample only)

  • An Engineering Qualification is a prerequisite for this position
  • A minimum of 15 years working experience as a construction business developer/senior QS/Commercial Manager
  • A minimum of 5 years in a position of Quantity surveyor
  • Knowledge of various computer software programmes for planning and reading drawings
  • International exposure with African experience
  • Excellent English language skills
