Job Description: 

Our client is in need of a General Manager who will be responsible for the sales of mining equipment into the Sub Saharan market. They are responsible for Dealer appointment in respect of Independent Dealers. This is a senior management position and the successful incumbent will report directly to the President and Directors.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and review Equipment and Accessories Sales figures compared with the budget on monthly, quarterly and yearly basis in terms of sales turnover, adjusted sales margin ratio and expense
  • Responsibility for Marketing and Sales on a regional basis
  • Ensure and enforce HCM global mining strategies
  • Review Mining & Construction market share / market intelligence
  • Develop and maintain current customer base
  • Develop suppliers list, establish policy and procedure’s, enforce SLA’s
  • Manage, contribute, co-ordinate and develop new sales and aftersales support in respect commercial requirements for mining customers and key regional construction customers
  • Cooperate with SSA, CSSA, FMC contracts. Review and establish P&L potential
  • Provide Application engineering support, review and site assessment support for life cycle support purposes in respect of existing and new contracts and agreements and to support the sales channel
  • Develop pricing strategy and assist in coordinating distribution and access
  • Setting-up and following-up of commercial initiatives and common action plan in collaboration with Account Managers
  • Responsible for product development, performance reporting at a HCM level
  • Co-ordinate dealer appointment process and evaluation
  • Define and review dealer capabilities and determine product line suitable for the market
  • Ensure dealer governance and agreement management in respect of renewal, termination
  • Responsible for a customer portfolio, in collaboration with the Sales department
  • Participate in customer visits on site (and HQ)
  • Ensure access to approved sources for manufacturing Excavator Bucket, Rigid Dump truck bodies/bowls and wheel loader bucket and application specific accessories
  • Manage and review sales turnover and margin in the region
  • Provide a regular update on business strategy performance

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Must have at least 10 years’ experience with mining equipment
  • At least 2 years general management experience
  • At least 2 years contracts management, administration and marketing experience
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior management role within a similar industry
  • Good knowledge of Sub-Saharan Africa mining
  • High level of people management skills and strong business acumen
  • Strong leadership and customer relations skills
