Job Description:
A seasoned exploration geologist with a strong technical background in porphyry copper mineralization, to work on a major project in Sudan. The role will be responsible for the implementation and running of field-based exploration and geological program, to identify potential mineral deposits.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and manage diverse field-based exploration programs, with specific focus on porphyry copper-gold mineralization
- Monitoring geological staff, sample preparation and field activities
- Ensuring compliance to company standard operating procedures
- Overseeing reconnaissance to deposit-scale geological mapping exercises and the compilation of geological sections
- Overseeing drilling and trenching operations, geochemical and geophysical surveying
- Management of geological and logistical contractors and consultants
- Compiling, incorporating and interpreting exploration data
- Identifying and implementing appropriate exploration systems to improve and enhance exploration efficiencies
- Implementing training and mentoring programs for exploration geologists and other staff
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Minimum BSC degree in Earth Sciences or Geology from a reputable tertiary institution
- An MSC degree advantageous
- Minimum 10 years’ mineral exploration experience 4 of which should be in exploration management
- Minimum 5 years of porphyry copper- gold exploration experience
- A member of a recognized professional organization
- Strong track record in mineral exploration
- Competent in the design, implementation and management of mineral exploration programs
- Well versed in the industry reporting codes such as JORC
- Strong experience with 3D modeling software programs
