My client is currently seeking an experienced Technical Services Manager to manage their MineCA Mining Mining Review Africa Planning and geology onsite.


  • Reports to the Mining Manager
  • Manage the development and monitor the compliance of short, medium and long term mine plans.
  • Manage the grade control process and maintain a long term geological grade model
  • Active exploration for new ore bodies and extensions to existing ore bodies.
  • Coordinate technical departments such as Survey, Geotech and Rock Engineering.
  • Coordinate Mining Engineering projects in terms of continuous business improvement.
  • Formulate a sustainable mining strategy to include practical and economically viable pit deployment
  • and airspace management
  • Develop an annual budget plan and make inputs into the 5 year budget plan
  • Report on a monthly and quarterly basis the analysis of budget deviations
  • Coordinate compilation of life of mine plan, tonnages mined grades and destination of rock types.
  • Coordinate and check the compilation of detailed waste rock dump and stockpile plans with deposition plan, depletion plan and accurate grade model
  • Ensure compilation of year end mining and business forecast
  • Oversee the annual updating of the Geology model using lithological, (rock type) assay (grade) and structural data (location)
  • Prepare and sign-off a detailed SAMRAC compliant mineral resource and reserve statement.
  • Ensure accurate resource and reserve reconciliation
  • Oversee the development of a local geological exploration plan focusing on the location of new MSB deposits and adding to the body of knowledge of MMZ deposits.
  • Oversee the resourcing and execution of geological exploration plan.
  • Design and implement a risk based pit monitoring strategy
  • Ensure sound dump and stockpile design and implementation
  • Ensure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Manage and monitor MTS departments adherence to SHREQ objectives
  • Oversee legal and environmental compliance


  • Degree in Mining Engineering or B Sc Hons in Geology
  • Mine Managers Certificate of Competency
  • 12 years Mining Operational and Technical experience
  • 5 years Operations and Exploration Geology experience
  • 5 years Mine Planning management experience
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Business Administration advantageous
  • GDE in Mining Engineering or Mineral Resource Management advantageous
  • Project Management Qualification advantageous
  • Medically fit (“Red Ticket”)
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office suite)
  • Valid driver’s licence.

  • Permanent position based in Mpumalanga
