Our client is a large mining house with several projects and operating mines in South Africa and globally. They are currently seeking to employ an experienced Project Controls Manager / Investment Assurance Principal to organise and schedule an integrated investment assurance process to optimise value and reduce risk within the group
Responsibilities:
- Implement the Investment Development Model for Group Projects across the business, collaborating with key stakeholders in Group T&S, the BU’s and operations to optimise value and reduce risk
- Participate in or lead major project reviews and reports on compliance with relevant Group Projects standards and best practices
- Identify, report and comment on key technical issues, risks and opportunities for value add within area of expertise and impact thereof on the operation and/or project
- Work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Advise and support Capital, SIB and operations on best practices, technology and new processes
- Effectively share knowledge to support operational best practice
- Ensure consistent and high quality project assessments on an ongoing basis including stress testing business opportunity economics and sensitivities through evaluation of realistic key drivers
- Utilise appropriate experts and tools (including internal and external benchmarking) to assist decision makers in making sound business decisions
- Visibly demonstrate SHE leadership
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline
- A postgraduate qualification (Masters degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity
- An extensive career of depth and breadth in investment assurance covering a range of commodities and operating conditions
- A track record of deep technical experience gained in one or more relevant technical disciplines (e.g. Mining, Engineering, Geosciences or Processing)
- Track record of success liaising and dealing at senior levels with suppliers, JV Partners, regulatory bodies, community stakeholders, research institutions and industry associations
- A broad understanding of projects, operations and start up across the globe
- Strong background in risk management within an investment assurance context
