Job Description: CA Mining Mining Review Africa
To provide an effective service to the Business Units in respect of Occupational Environment matters (Ventilation,
Refrigeration & Occupational Hygiene). Also ensure that O.E staff keep abreast with the latest initiatives/drives, as well as to provide a consulting service to the operation/division in order to address the issues of cost effectiveness, technological
innovation, planning & staff development

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with the Mine H & S Act and OH&S Act and keep managers informed of new/revised legislation
  • Achieve O.E benchmarks
  • Attainment of annual Health & Safety objectives aimed at making a positive impact on: Noise Induced Hearing Loss, lung diseases, workplace environment, major perils and fatigue
  • Set up a strategy and a plan to optimize the use of ventilation and refrigeration in the working places and to eliminate / control exposure to adverse conditions
  • Be pro-active in all aspects of operational safety, efficient utilisation of resources, continuous improvement initiatives and encourage teamwork across the department

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Certificate in Mine Environmental Control is essential
  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Hygiene will be advantageous
  • At least 10 years’ experience in Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene
  • Radiation Protection Officers ticket will be advantageous
  • Good understanding of managing a radiation protection program on a mine
  • OHSAS 18
    001 and ISO 14001 Auditing/ Risk Management
  • Good report writing skills and computer literacy
  • Must have experience in Ventilation and Refrigeration Life of Mine and Project Planning
  • Be in possession of a valid Certificate of Fitness (Red ticket) or have the ability to obtain one
