Project Manager – Civil & Structural (Civil Engineering / Housing / Open Pit / Zinc)

The Project Manager (Civil/Housing) will provide direct output and support to Senior Project Manager (Infrastructure/Utilities) and will work with the Project Technical Office. The successful candidate will manage all related Project Civil/Housing project execution work by providing technical and functional leadership that will ensure effective implementation of the project within the required scope, budget and timeframes.


  • Contribute to the overall success of the Project (within set timeframes, scope & budget) with a specific focus across the Civil/Housing stream and related functions using a sound financial and quality control approach so as to continuously optimize & sustain value.
  • Developing and optimizing the Civil/Housing scope of work
  • Perform a key role in project planning and management including budgeting, and identification of resources needed
  • Provide guidance in the Civil/Housing stream by anticipating current and future risks and mitigating these. In addition identify impacting risks across the project packages and escalate issues
  • Building a productive project culture through effective people management and team building
  • Assist with performing benchmarking for best  practices in flotation and dewatering and implement relevant findings for the project

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Relevant Degree or Diploma in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Post-graduate qualification in Financial and/or Project Management is preferred
  • At least  8 -10 years large project mining experience
  • Demonstrable experience in bringing large projects in on time and budget and within scope
  • Working knowledge of MHSA and of relevant South African environmental regulations
  • Computer literacy
  • Good facilitation, presentation and communications skills (verbal and written
  • Professional registration with recognized body/institution is an advantage (Pr.CM qualification is preferred
