The key purpose of the role is to:

  • Ensure that the company has security of supply and the most competitive supply and logistics cost position achievable
  • Work with the Sales team to develop and deliver offers to maximize gross margin from the chosen customer segments
  • Work closely with Partners, as strategic partner on both product supply and distribution, Assets & Operations, HSSE, Sales and Customer Contact Centre functions to ensure delivery of our customer offer
  • Lead on strategic thinking and implementation of supply & logistics initiatives relating to
    various customer segments in the region
  • Provide leadership to the immediate Supply & Logistics team and broader organization as extended leadership team member in the business
  • Supplier contract management, including HSSE, costs and innovation

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the Supply & Logistics strategy for the company, in conjunction with our various partners across the value chain
  • Ensure security and market competitiveness of supply and logistics to meet the company’s marketing demand
  • Provide assurance that supply chain logistics to meet marketing demand are fit-for-purpose and competitive relative to market
  • Act as custodian of the various Supply & Logistics agreements, and the performance management thereof
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Partners and other service providers
  • Initiate and implement supply chain risk management programme in conjunction with Assets, Operations and HSSE function to manage supply and logistics-related product quality, operational and environmental risks across operational footprint in South Africa
  • Develop, implement and maintain Supply & Logistics business continuity plans with input from relevant partners
  • Custodian of the order-to-delivery aspects of the order-to-cash process, ensuing it is robust and controls are in place to effectively manage and mitigate risks to the business
  • Act as custodian of the Supply & Logistics aspects of customer charter / promise
  • Supply & Logistics strategic cost management, focusing on sustainable efficiencies, leveraging technology and contract management and negotiations
  • Ongoing data analysis on all supply chain aspects, with the objective to finding cost effective ways to delivering on our customer offer
  • Lead the Ethics and Compliance agenda and inculcate Values in the Supply & Logistics function and as extended leadership member of
  • Implement methods, best practices and techniques to ensure the most economical movement of product through the supply chain to achieve cost-effective logistics practices  and inventory levels while meeting customer delivery requirements
  • Continuous improvement in supply performance through producing and tracking key supply chain KPI’s
  • Identify and develop options in conjunction with our supply chain partners to m
    aximize income through refinery, depot and logistics optimization
  • Work with the Sales and Demand management network, to maximize gross margin extraction from our various customer segments through supply and logistics provisions and customized offers
  • Lead capabilities agenda on functional expertise for Supply & Logistics  through-out the business (strengthening the succession pipeline) and developing a strong team of Supply & Logistics experts
  • Effectively managing a Supply & Logistics function across multiple products and a wide distribution area (nationally)
  • The nature of the company’s customer operations are largely 24/7
  • Ability to be self-motivated and independently work under pressure to deliver outstanding results
  • Networking with other Supply & Logistics professionals and transferring of best practices within the team

Educational background:

  • A tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma) in engineering, supply chain or similar from a recognized institution

Experience (years and nature):

  • Minimum 10 years of Supply & Logistics experience, with at least 5 years in a similar senior role in the Petroleum industry
  • Relevant experience demonstrated through sustained track record in Supply & Logistics, including in-depth understanding of the industry supply economics
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizing, and interpersonal skills
