Responsibilities:CA Mining Mining Review Africa

  • Supervise the administration of tax matters, review tax calculations and regularly review policies
  • Answering tax related questions & understand complex tax related problems
  • Effectively managing relationships with the relevant local authorities (SARS)
  • Responding to queries from SARS, including attending meetings with SARS assessors
  • Interpreting the complete spectrum of local tax laws (research)
  • Making recommendations regarding tax solutions
  • Identify tax risks (including subsidiaries and affiliates), and the implications of tax
  • Reviewing tax calculations (current tax, deferred tax, capital gains tax, withholding tax) and tax accounting (journals) and disclosures (group and individual) for management and statutory accounting purposes
  • Reviewing tax related reconciliations (SAP) (group and individual)
  • Monthly, quarterly, interim and year-end tax reporting (local and holding company) for both actual and planned/forecasted figures
  • Assisting with tax related areas in plan and forecasts
  • Maintaining and regularly reviewing of the Transfer Pricing Policy
  • Supervising the administration of tax matters (income tax returns, objections to assessments, provisional tax returns, schedules, secondary tax returns, capital gains tax, learnership agreements)
  • Supervising the maintenance of essential tax records, reports & files – keeping accurate audit trail
  • Supervising the submission of all PAYE & VAT returns and managing the SARS e-filing function
  • Research on tax incentives on projects
  • Educating the department and site on tax related matters


  • B.Compt (Hons) Accounting/CTA and HDip (Tax) degree OR higher (CA)
  • Minimum 8 years relevant experience
  • Public Accounting experience outside of articles; Tax (corporate, indirect and employees tax); Mining tax experience; section 31 (anti-avoidance; and transfer pricing) experience
  • High level of literacy and numeric skills, excellent communication skills; ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels;
  • Understanding and working knowledge of SA GAAP / IFRS;
  • High level computer skills, including MS Office, Excel and Word;
  • Understanding of tax legislation
  • Working knowledge of FI and CO module of SAP;
  • Good understanding of control principles;

Contractual information:

  • Permanent positon
  • Relocation to Limpopo necessary
  • Market Related (D2) ZAR salary
