A major operating mine in Sierra Leone is looking for a Risk Manager. The role will be responsible for managing the site operational risk register and provide oversight of the site Emergency Management Plan while maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, contractors and other stakeholder by providing effective leadership of the security guard force

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide training on the methodology and software with relevant managers
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies to protect the company’s people, environment, assets and reputation
  • Ensure compliance with Sierra Leone mining regulations
  • Ensure all security activities are down according to company regulations
  • Provide oversight of the site risk register and facilitate coordinated reviews of risk in the various operational areas
  • Personally responsible for the Emergency Management Plan
  • Develop appropriate security policies and procedures to mitigate risks associated with all security matters
  • Provide oversight of Emergency Management System, ensuring all resources are competent in their duties
  • Ensure adherence to EHS policies, procedures, programmes and practices

Requirements:Qualification and Skill

  • Degree in risk management and security
  • 10-15 years’ experience in overseeing a corporate risk management database and coordinating risk reviews
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Ability to coach direct reports to improve their performance
  • Proficiency in managing relationships and building networks
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive outcome and timing of process improvements, through clear and accurate communication

Job description
The Superintendent, Metallurgy reports to the Director, Plant Operations and provides effective technical support for all operations of the gold plant, from strategic and tactical planning to the achievement of production and performance targets.

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the optimization and control of instructions, procedures, as well as the improvement of processes and services related to metallurgical processes.
  • Manage and supervise the technical activities of a group of specialized technicians.
  • Supervise internal and external metallurgy projects and deliver reports with recommendations.
  • Ensure all objectives and requirements are established and communicated effectively to the metallurgy operations staff.
  • Develop and assist the metallurgy staff to execute all allocates tasks and prepare the metallurgy tests.
  • Implement plant process control strategies to meet or exceed budget targets
  • Ensure that metallurgical staff and related resources operate safely and effectively to perform all activities necessary to achieve the objectives.
  • Convince leaders and key partners to support change efforts that increase our competitiveness.
  • Provide technical assistance to site staff in specific projects to resolve water and effluent treatments.
  • Maintain good communications with all the participants in the following departments: geology, mining and metallurgy groups
  • Ensure all metallurgy staff perform in conformity with management systems (ISO 14001 & OSHAS 18001)

Requirements: Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in metallurgy or in mineral treatment
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years in a supervision position preferably in gold processing plants.
  • Experience in operations management, metallurgy processes, project management, minerals characterisation, extractive metallurgy
  • Experience in plant Development
  • International experience in similar management preferably in West Africa.
  • Good communication skills in both language English and French.

Job description
The Superintendent of Technical Services must provide technical optimal support to the management team as well as directing all the engineering technical aspects on the mine, Responsible for making sure all projects are delivered on time according to the budget and in respect with the quality standard. Reporting directly to the mining director, they must participate in the strategic planning of the mining resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing team of engineers and geologists and providing leadership, technical guidance and solid people management
  • Establish direction of the systems and the mining planning process

  • Establish and control all the geotechnical program to optimize the slopes and reinsure the stability.
  • Evaluation of the technical innovations in terms of mining technology.

Requirements: Qualifications and Skills

  • Higher university degree in mining
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in mining, Engineering or Geology 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in management role.
  • Good technical opencast mining knowledge with large-tonnage.
  • Competence level with MineSight, COMET, GEMCOM and WHITTLE.
  • Ability to manage a technical team in a multicultural environment.
  • Very good communication skills in both language English and French.
