In an exclusive interview with Mining Review Africa editor Laura Cornish towards the end of the Investing in African Mining Indaba conference, MD Alex Grose reflects on the successes of this year’s conference.
He highlights the significant turnaround in the quality of delegates and significant increase in mining companies, investors and other key mining stakeholders including government.
Grose further highlights the quality of this year’s presentations, which placed greater focus on sustainability and innovation.
The water crisis in Cape Town, one of the biggest influences in how the conference unfolded was treated with responsibility and cognisance.
This may determine the venue for Mining Indaba 2019, but Grose is keen to consider supporting the Cape Town economy and hopes to continue doing so – especially in 2019 – the conference’s 25th year anniversary.
