Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) has donated $200,000 to support recovery efforts in Mozambique and Zimbabwe after the devastation of Cyclone Idai.
Eurasian Resources Group has provided cash donations to both the Mozambique Red Cross (CVM) and the National Disaster Fund in Zimbabwe.
Benedikt Sobotka, CEO of ERG, said: “On behalf of ERG I would like to extend our deepest condolences to all the people affected by Cyclone Idai. We hope that our donation will help support the provision of supplies to deal with this tragedy and to put the communities affected on the road to recovery.”
Eurasian Resources Group is an important investor in Mozambique’s Chitima Power Project and has a long history in the Zimbabwean resources sector.
Cyclone Idai is one of the worst tropical cyclones on record to affect the southern African region. It has caused catastrophic damage in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi, leaving more than 800 people dead, hundreds missing and scores homeless.
