The renovation of Inga II's Turbine 5 will add an estimated 162 megawatts (MW) of hydropower generation capacity.
The extension of this agreement builds on the framework agreed in the MoU signed with SNEL and announced in April 2021.
Its Phase 2 concentrator of the expansion to 7.6 Mtpa is more than 35% complete and well on track to begin operations in Q3 2022.
“This will enable us to become a mid-tier copper company by advancing our flagship high grade Mbamba Kilenda copper project."
The agreement follows Ivanhoe Mines and CNMC entering into a strategic partnership with LCS on 18 August, 2020.
