New director for ARM

With excellent long-life, low-cost operating assets in key commodities, ARM owns ferrous and base metals, platinum and coal operations, and holds a significant interest in the gold mining sector through its shareholding in Harmony Gold.

]Sir CK (56) is currently CEO of MTR Corporation, a position he has held since December 2003. He was formerly CEO of Brambles Industries and GKN. Prior to joining GKN he worked for the BOC Group for 20 years, becoming CEO of its Gases Division and joining its board in 1993.

Sir CK is a chartered engineer and holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Universities of Wisconsin and California respectively. He was knighted in 2000 for his contribution to industry.

GMA appoints new chairman

London, England --- MININGREVIEW.COM --- 20 February, 2008 - GMA Resources Plc - listed on the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market – has appointed David Netherway as the new chairman of the company.

David was formerly a non-executive director of GMA. He succeeds Richard Linnell, who will move from his former role as chairman to become deputy chairman. This move follows the recent commencement of production at the Amesmessa gold project in the Sahara of southern Algeria.

Jonah Mining appoints CFO

New MD for Palabora

New chairman for Miranda

The company announced here that Robert Thompson has been appointed to replace Mokgatlha as non-executive chairman, and that Michael Cook is taking over from Gribnitz as non-executive director. Both appointments are with immediate effect.  

New CFO for Great Basin

van Vuuren qualified as a chartered accountant in 2002, after completing his articles with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was appointed assistant manager in 2002. He progressed to manager in 2003, senior manager in 2005 and associate director of PWC in 2007 – a position he has held until his appointment to GBG. He has an in-depth understanding of financial and regulatory requirements, and has significant auditing experience in the gold mining industry.

Bill Nairn joins MDM Engineering

Johannesburg, South Africa --- MININGREVIEW.COM --- January 17, 2008. - Newly-formed MDM Engineering – which is in the process of re-establishing itself as a leading South African minerals process engineering and project management company – has announced the appointment of Mr.Bill Nairn as non-executive chairman with effect from 1st January 2008.

In making the announcement today, the company said Mr. Nairn held a BSc in Mining Engineering and had more than 40 years’ experience in the mining industry.

“We are delighted that Bill Nairn has agreed to take on the role of non-executive chairman of MDM Engineering,” said group CEO George Bennett. “Bill’s name is almost synonymous with the global mining industry, and we will undoubtedly benefit from his extensive knowledge and experience.”

Prior to his retirement from Anglo American PLC at the end of 2004, Mr. Nairn was the group’s technical director for a period of five years. Before that, he was the managing director and chief executive of JCI Limited from 1994 to 1997. He has served extensively on the boards of other mining companies, such as Anglo Platinum, Boart Longyear, AngloGold Ashanti, Anglo Zimbabwe, Avmin and Kumba and, in particular, has experience of guiding the various boards’ safety and sustainable development committees.

Mr. Nairn will remain a non-executive director of AngloGold Ashanti and Pangea DiamondFields plc.
