The next sale of diamonds, as recovered by Lucapa Diamond and its two project partners – Endiama, Angola’s national diamond company and Rosas & Petalas – is scheduled for mid-November.

The sale parcel will include the 172 ct and 104 ct Type IIa D-colour diamonds recovered from the Lulo diamond mine in Angola in September.

The 172.67 carat diamond Type IIa, D-colour diamond was made less than two weeks after Lucapa Diamond recovered the ‘exceptional’ 104 carat Type IIa D-colour diamond – the 27th biggest recorded diamond in the world.

During the September 2016 quarter, Lucapa Diamond produced a record 8.853 carats from the Lulo diamond project – a 154% increase on the corresponding quarter in 2015.

The September quarter production included a record 137 specials (individual diamonds weighing more than 10.8 carats) weighing a total of 3.210 ct, underlining Lulo’s unique ability to regularly produce large premium-value diamonds.

Lulo alluvial mining company Sociede Mineria Do Lulo (SML) continues to recover regular large specials, with the latest recoveries including 72 ct Type IIa D-colour diamond.

Lucapa Diamond notes that these diamonds will be included in the second sale for the fourth quarter of 2016, which is also the nineth sale for the 2016 calendar year-

This sale is scheduled for mid-December 2016.
