African Explosives Limited (AEL), the leading producer of explosives products, initiating systems and blasting solutions in Africa, will once again be exhibiting at Electra Mining Africa 2006 in September.
As the major supplier of explosives to the South African mining industry – and further afield in Africa – AEL has concentrated its technological innovation on developing specialised explosives, initiating systems and services that improve safety by optimising blasting efficiencies.
One of the latest examples of the company’s technological innovation is the HotShot™ electronic initiation system, which is being officially introduced to the South African market at Electra Mining Africa 2006. It was developed by sister company DetNet South Africa, and AEL – as DetNet’s African channel partner – is responsible for marketing the system throughout the continent.
HotShot™ is the world’s first auto-programmable electronic initiation system designed to optimise blasting results. It is user-friendly, simple to understand, easy to deploy, flexible in a wide range of blast configurations, and it offers the millisecond accuracy of an electronic detonator.
Already successfully marketed on a limited scale in the United States and Australia, the HotShot™ offers such benefits as: a variety of advantages through accurate timing; ease of use and speed of deployment; blast design flexibility; and enhanced safety features.
The HotShot™ is one of several AEL innovations that will be on show at Electra Mining. Existing and potential customers are invited to view these latest innovations by visiting AEL at Stand E-18 in Hall 5. MRA
