Johannesburg, South Africa — 25 June 2013 – The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) is seeking pay hikes of more than double the wages received by entry-level workers in the gold mines of South Africa.
Stating this in a submission to the Chamber of Mines here, AMCU called for the entry level minimum for all underground workers to be R12,500 across all mining houses, reports Fin24. This is well over double the current average minimum rate of around R5,000.
