Luanda, Angola — 04 March 2013 – The Angolan state oil company, Sociedade Nacional de Combustíveis de Angola (Sonangol) sold 5.85 million tons of miscellaneous refined products in 2012 “’ an increase of almost 20% on 2011 sales.
According to company chairman Francisco Lemos Maria, the main refined products consumed, which also saw the greatest growth in 2012, were lighting oil, diesel and butane.
He said that due to liberalisation of the domestic fuel market, Sonangol had sold 1 million tonnes of fuel to other distributors, notably petrol and diesel.
Maria added that liquid fuel storage capacity also increased last year to 729,000 tonnes.
