Accra, Ghana — 09 April 2013 – Striking workers at Gold Fields’ Limited’s operations in Ghana were expected to resume work today, following the conclusion of talks between their leaders and management to resolve their grievances.
“We had a comprehensive discussion with management and we have agreed that work should resume. That is likely to happen on Monday,” said Prince Ankrah, general secretary of the Ghana Mineworkers Union, quoted by Fin24.
Workers at the Tarkwa and Damang mines, in which Gold Fields has a 90% interest, embarked on a wildcat strike last week, resulting in the shutdown of both mines.
