Breaking ground in Zimbabwe’s mining industry

South African uniform solutions specialist, The Kit Group, is putting plans in place with relevant stakeholders in Zimbabwe’s mining and agricultural sectors to supply uniforms and accessories in that country.

“The Kit Group believes it is the right time to develop key relationships and partnerships to supply the Zimbabwean mining sector to help achieve its goals and objectives,” CEO Joe Pereira says.

The Kit Group hopes to establish four stores in the country to supply apparel and introduce two key programmes namely its planned maintenance programme and full risk management training. The Kit Group has developed specialised software for the planned maintenance programme that will assist companies to optimally manage their assets, including machinery, power supply, and spare parts. This, according to Pereria, will ensure assets and the power behind it is combined, coordinated and maintained at an optimal level.

The full risk management training programme will train new and existing staff on the mines about safety, driving techniques, first aid, fire training and evacuation. “The Kit Group has identified a huge need for this type of training because resources are so scarce,” Pereira says.

He goes on to say that the potential in African countries like Zimbabwe afford The Kit Group an opportunity to expand and diversify its product offerings.
