at Simmer & Jack’s
Buffelsfontein gold
mine

Johannesburg, South Africa — MININGREVIEW.COM — 26 May 2010 – Simmer and Jack Mines has announced that drilling and blasting operations have resumed at all six operating Shafts at its Buffelsfontein gold mine in the North West province.

A company statement released here pointed out that the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) had suspended work on all shafts at the mine on 6 May in order to conduct a full safety audit, following a fall of ground at the mine’s Number 5 shaft in which three mine employees had lost their lives.

The statement added that the temporary stoppage of its underground operations was estimated to have cost Buffelsfontein gold mine approximately 3 858oz in lost gold production.
