Johannesburg, South Africa — MININGREVIEW.COM — 11 March, 2008 – A locomotive accident at Simmer & Jack Mines Limited’s Buffelsfontein Mine in the North- West Province has claimed the life of one mineworker.

A company news release issued here says the incident took place at the Number Two shaft at the weekend.  “All tramming has been stopped pending an investigation into the accident,” the release added.

This is the second fatal accident at Buffelsfontein this year. The mine was closed temporarily in January after one worker died and four were injured following an earth tremor.
