Johannesburg, South Africa — MININGREVIEW.COM — 22 September 2009 – South Africa’s fourth biggest gold producer “’ DRDGold Limited says the strike which started at its Blyvooruitzicht mine a week ago is still continuing, and there are no positive indications of an end at this stage.
Confirming this today, company spokesman James Duncan told Bloomberg News in a telephone interview that no talks had been planned between management and labour unions.
He said that about 3 900 people were on strike over pay at Blyvooruitzicht, and that 400 were not working at the Crown Mines gold dump retreatment facility. The Crown mine was operating normally, Duncan added.
DRDGold is reported to be losing more than R2 million a day because of the industrial action.
