A statement by the company said that the project “’ estimated to cost R300 million “’ would give Crown access to Ergo’s 200-million-tonne-capacity tailings deposition site at Brakpan, raising its deposition capacity to 600 000 tonnes per month from the current 400 000 tonnes.
The new pipeline is scheduled to be completed in August next year.
Meanwhile executive operations officer Charles Symons says the company could produce a total of 1.7 million oz of gold at its Ergo mine over 12 years. “We believe we have got a 12 year mine life and we could possibly produce 1.7 million ounces during that period,” he told journalists during a visit to the mine.
