Revealing this in a statement issued here, the company confirmed that agreement had been reached on an 8.5% wage increase. “The company is pleased that an agreement has been reached, as the strike was not in the best interests of either employer or employees,” the statement added
Exxaro said the increase would be backdated to September 1.
The strike began on 23 August, with the NUM initially demanding a 14% and Exxaro offering 8%.
