London, England — MININGREVIEW.COM — 08 April 2009 – GMA Resources plc – incorporated in Australia and listed on the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market – says its Amesmessa gold mine in Algeria has completed a highly successful first quarter of 2009.
The company announcement released here revealed that in March 2009, production at Amesmessa had amounted to 3 401 ounces of gold and 654 ounces of silver. This was the highest monthly gold production the mine had ever produced.
Looking at the first quarter of 2009, the mine had produced a total of 9 829 ounces of gold – more than 85% above the 5 292 ounces produced in the fourth quarter of 2008.
GMA’s CEO Douglas Perkins commented: “As previously announced, we will continue to report production on a monthly basis during Q2 of 2009 to keep shareholders informed of production on a timely basis. We are pleased with the 86% increase in gold production from Q4 2008 to Q1 2009, and anticipate that Q2 2009 will show another quarterly increase over Q1.”
