Revealing this in a telephone interview with Reuters, NUM negotiator Eddie Majadibodu said mediation attempts by a third party would start on 19 July. The union was demanding a 15% increase and Impala was offering 7%, he added.

Impala spokesman Bob Gilmour has confirmed that there is a dispute, but had no further details at this stage.
