Roger Phillimore,
who has been
confirmed as chairman
of Lonmin

London, England — MININGREVIEW.COM — 24 March 2009 – The world’s third biggest platinum producer, Lonmin plc, has confirmed Roger Phillimore as chairman of the company, subsequent to his holding the position on an interim basis.

A statement issued here confirmed that Phillimore, 59, had agreed to be interim chairman after John Craven had retired on 29 January, but was not available initially to assume the role on a permanent basis.

“With his detailed understanding of both Lonmin and the platinum group metals industry, the board believes that Roger is the right person to lead the board as it implements significant changes to the business,” senior independent director Michael Hartnall said.

Phillimore – a dual citizen of Britain and South Africa – was previously joint managing director of Minorco and is currently a non-executive director of Harry Winston Diamond Corporation.
