Mines and mineral resources of Africa

Mining Review Africa and South Africa’s Council for Geoscience have over the past several months worked together to produce a quite comprehensive minerals map of Africa that depicts several hundred of the major mines, mineral deposits and occurrences across the continent. The map also shows the continent’s major geological settings, country boundaries and certain towns relevant to the minerals sector.

The map, which has been kindly sponsored by the Bateman group, covers all the continent’s major solid minerals, including precious metals, diamonds, base metals, coal and industrial minerals. Based on the database of the Council for Geoscience and the work done by that group coupled with input from Mining Review Africa, the map shows the location, the type of occurrence and the commodity each particular entry refers to.

Within the constraints of its physical size, the map is aimed at being as comprehensive and informative as possible; to this end it also includes five insets covering the Ghanaian gold fields, the Tanzanian gold fields, the Zambian Copperbelt, South Africa’s Bushveld PGM complex and South Africa’s Witwatersrand gold basin.

The Mines and Mineral Resources of Africa map is available for purchase laminated with hanging battens. Price excludes VAT (where applicable) and postage and packaging.
