“Tanzanian export earnings almost doubled between 2005 and 2009, with mineral shipments accounting for about half of the value of sales abroad,” the Daily News reported here, citing trade minister Mary Nagu.
The Dar es Salaam-based newspaper revealed that export shipments had increased to US$3.1 billion (R23 billion) last year, compared with US$1.7 billion (R12.75 billion) in 2005.
It added that the main buyers of Tanzania’s goods last year included Japan, China, Hong Kong, India, the United Arab Emirates, European Union nations, and countries in east and southern Africa.
