Johannesburg, South Africa — 11 April 2012 – African Rainbow Minerals Limited (ARM) has confirmed that the wage dispute at the Modikwa Platinum Mine “’ in which ARM Platinum holds a 41.5% interest, with 50% held by Anglo American Platinum and 8.5% by the local communities “’ has been resolved.
This new development follows the collapse last week of a protracted collective bargaining process between Modikwa mine and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), as well as a
three-week protected strike.
A statement issued by ARM late yesterday said that Modikwa platinum mine had signed a two-year wage agreement with the NUM. It added that striking employees were expected to return to
work and resume production today.
