Milan, Italy — 23 September 2013 – The Mozambican government has announced that it intends to sign natural gas production contracts with the Italian explorer and producer ENI and American oil giant Anadarko Petroleum by July of 2014.

Making the announcement during the course of a conference here, reports Macauhub News Agency, mineral resources minister Esperança Bias said that the signing of contracts would set in motion a process that would lead to the production of natural gas in Mozambique by 2018.

“So that gas can start flowing in 2018, we aim to have the contracts signed by July 2014,” she confirmed, assuring that all efforts were being made with that date in mind.
