Johannesburg, South Africa — MININGREVIEW.COM — 04 June 2008 – Gold and uranium miner Simmer & Jack Mines Limited has appointed Aquarius Platinum CEO Stuart Murray to the Simmers board with effect from 13 June 2008.
In a statement issued here, Simmers chairman Nigel Brunette commented: “Stuart Murray has a proven track record in the mining industry and a reputation for being a strong, hands-on CEO. He brings with him a wealth of expertise, and is exactly the kind of robust, independent voice that we welcome on the Simmers board.”
Murray – who was born in Zambia and schooled in Scotland – holds a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from London University`s Imperial College, and is an associate member of the Institute for Chemical Engineers.
Having spent his entire career in the mining industry, he is credited with transforming Aquarius from a junior Australian exploration company in 2001 to the fourth largest primary platinum producer globally with a market cap in excess of R30 billion. Murray also chairs the board of Aquarius Platinum (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd, and Mimosa Mining Company (Pty) Ltd.
