Johannesburg, South Africa — MININGREVIEW.COM — 02 June 2008 – Pan African Resources plc – a mining, exploration, and development company focused on gold in Africa –has appointed John Hopwood as an independent, non-executive director, with immediate effect.

Aged 60, Hopwood has extensive experience in mining, and has served on several boards of directors. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a chartered accountant.

The announcement here today adds that Hopwood is currently a non-executive director of Gold Fields Limited, one of the world’s largest un-hedged gold producers. He is a member of the board of trustees of The New Africa Mining Fund, a private equity venture involved in the resources sector, and is chairman of the fund’s Investment Committee. He was previously a director and head of the mergers and acquisitions division at Ernst and Young Corporate Finance, South Africa. Hopwood was an executive Director of Gold Fields of South Africa Limited from January 1992 to September 1998.
