Niel Pretorius,
New CEO,
Johannesburg, South Africa — MININGREVIEW.COM — 06 January 2009 – JSE-listed DRDGOLD Limited – a mid-tier gold producer with underground mines, surface re-treatment operations and exploration programmes in South Africa – has confirmed that Niel Pretorius has assumed the role of CEO of the company as of 1 January 2009.

Making the announcement here, the company confirmed that former CEO John Sayers had resigned from the board with effect from 31 December 2008, as originally announced in August last year.

DRDGOLD chairman Geoff Campbell had the following to say about Sayers’ contribution to the company: “I would like to express my sincere thanks to John Sayers for his leadership of the company during the last two years. He took on the role at a difficult time and implemented a strategy of stabilisation and focus that transformed the company into the profitable, South African gold miner that it is today.”

He expressed his delight at the fact that Sayers was not leaving the company completely, as he had agreed to a consultancy role so that DRDGOLD could continue to benefit from his expertise and experience."
