Johannesburg, South Africa — MININGREVIEW.COM — 15 March 2010 – Various changes have been proposed to the management and board of directors of emerging South African metals company First Uranium Corporation First Uranium, and they include the appointment of Deon van der Mescht as interim CEO.

In a statement issued here the company said that van der Mescht would resign as CEO of Simmers immediately prior to his appointment by First Uranium.

A mining engineer by profession, van der Mescht has over 25 years’ experience in the South African gold mining industry. Following his tenure as general manager of DRD’s Blyvooruitzicht operation, he was appointed in 2003 as divisional director of DRDGold’s South African operations which included Buffelsfontein Gold Mine.

Van der Mecht joined Simmer and Jack in November 2005 as chief operating officer and was appointed as the managing director of Simmers’ Gold Division early in 2009. In January 2010, he was appointed CEO of Simmer and Jack.
