Newly appointed Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane will hold a meeting with stakeholders in the mining sector in the next few days to discuss challenges and opportunities available in the industry.

The meeting will be with stakeholders from organised business as well as labour.

“I am well aware of the critical role that this sector plays in the economy and the challenges it faces not only locally, but globally as well,” says Minister Zwane.

“I am confident that with the support and collective wisdom of the leadership of the industry, we can work together to move the mining industry, and indeed the South African economy, forward.”

According to the Department of Mineral Resources, the Minister appreciates the cyclic nature of the industry and asserts that the difficult times present opportunities to find innovative ways in which the industry can be positioned along a trajectory of sustainable growth, whilst catalysing broader development in the country.
