Maputo, Mozambique — 04 June 2012 – The government of Mozambique has launched a new national public tender to license areas for prospecting and geological surveying for coal in the Karroo sedimentary basin, in the Mid- Zambezi area.
The announcement was made here by Mozambique’s Mining Resources Ministry, according to the Macauhub News Agency. The ministry statement said that by restricting the tender to Mozambican citizens, the government had intended to involve them in the coal business, and thus take more direct advantage of exploration of the country’s national resources.
The deadline for tender is 27 July, 2012 when proposals will be opened.
Mozambique has recently become the target of many companies interested in prospecting and surveying for minerals and hydrocarbons.
