Northam Platinum concludes wage deal at its Booysendal mine

JSE-listed platinum miner Northam Platinum has concluded a three year wage agreement at its Booysendal platinum mine in the southern compartment of the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex, near Steelpoort.

The wage deal was concluded between mining contractor, Murray & Roberts Cementation and its representative unions, the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union, the National Union of Mineworkers and Solidarity across the Murray and Roberts Cementation operations.

The agreement provides for increases in line with other recent wage agreements in the industry.

Recognise the mature and constructive manner in which engagement has been undertaken, Northam Platinum chief executive Paul Dunne says this is a good outcome for all stakeholders as it provides certainty and stability going forward which will contribute to consolidating the ramp-up to steady state production at Booysendal which is expected to be achieved this month.
