Scavenging Plant.

Warman pumps were chosen for slurry handling at the new Platinum Mile Tailings Scavenging Plant.

Situated near Rustenburg, this plant has a 1,200,000 tonnes per month capacity and is retreating tailings from various platinum concentrators in the region that would have otherwise been channelled into a slimes dam in the area.

Locally manufactured Warman slurry pumps, vertical spindle pumps and clear water pumps have been installed at the plant. The largest of these are two Warman 16/14 G ultra heavy duty pumps, which are handling tailings, comprising both Merensky reef tailings, at a rate of about 1,544 mcc an hour.

Leon Kruger, product engineer at CH Warman Pump Group, says these are the largest Warman pumps to have been installed in a platinum slurry handling application to date.
