The new Doosan Infracore Mega
300-V loader used in mining

Transport and earthmoving company Highlander has called on Doosan Infracore SA for loaders to meet its contract with large mines in the northwest province of South Africa.

Construction equipment supplier Doosan Infracore SA – part of the global Doosan group – is the local distributor of Doosan Daewoo heavy earthmoving equipment to the mining, quarrying and construction industries, and is a major player in Africa.

The new R5 million order called for the delivery of five new Mega 300-V loaders used for mining and for loading trucks for mining contracts of up to 5 years at platinum and chrome mines in the north-west province. The huge machines are 8 085 m long, 3,470 m high, and weigh 17 300 kg.

The machine has efficient diesel consumption and, according to sales manager Frank Hamman, has little downtime. Another major benefit is reduced operating costs which enable the company to contract out at a cheaper rate per hour. It also offers fast on-site servicing and turnaround times.

Infracore provided initial training for Highlander staff in the use of the machines, and they are now fully conversant with the giant loaders.
