Johannesburg, South Africa — MININGREVIEW.COM — 10 July 2008 – DRDGOLD Limited (DRDGOLD) – a medium-sized gold producer with operations and exploration activities in South Africa – has reached agreement with the trade unions for the retrenchment of 270 employees of East Rand Propriety Mines Limited (ERPM).

This development is further to the SENS announcement of 25 April 2008 regarding ERPM giving notice to initiate consultations with recognised trade unions in terms of Sections 189 and 189A of the Labour Relations Act.

In a statement released here today, the company confirmed that a written retrenchment agreement had been concluded with organised labour at the end of last week. In terms of the agreement, voluntary retrenchment applications would be open for acceptance until 11 July 2008, following which ERPM would identify and retrench up to 270 employees in terms of agreed selection criteria.

The above retrenchment process forms part of DRDGOLD’s commitment to improving operating efficiencies at the ERPM mine,” the statement added.
